Geotechnical Services for Stabilization of Fort St. James Landfill

History:

Large tension crack was noted at Fort St. James Landfill in fall of 1996.

Failure zone was located on a steep bank directly above Necosline River.

Sperling Hansen Associates provided emergency response.

Preliminary assessment and survey were conducted in mid-winter.
Natural slump occurred before site could be stabilized.
Investigation showed that no refuse was involved.
Slope has been stabilized by further flattening.
Refuse was pulled back to ensure that the slide will not progress into refuse.
