History:

MoELP was concerned about 40 m high north face of Hope Landfill that had been constructed with slopes steeper than 2H:1V.  Geotechnical consultants had surveyed and identified movement of several cm per year.

 To assess the situation:

• SHA installed inclinometers and interpreted survey data.

• Data showed that the slope is stable. Movement is natural vertical settlement with no down-slope horizontal component.
